FAQs
Who is therapy for?
Therapy is for anyone and everyone. There has been a negative connotation with therapy unfortunately. But if it’s okay to seek professional help when your body feels sick, then it’s okay to seek professional help with your mind feels unwell, too. Mental health is on a spectrum: sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s not. Come in no matter where you land on the spectrum. If you’re considering therapy, there’s probably a good reason.
What can I expect in the first session?
Therapy is like dating: you have to find a good match. In that first session, you’ll get to see how we connect and if I can potentially be someone you’ll eventually trust. Therapy is a collaborative experience. I hold the belief that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important components. This means that we will create a professional relationship where I have unconditional positive regard for you. We will discuss your presenting concerns, identify goals for therapy, and work through how to get you there. You can ask me questions, and I’ll definitely be eager to learn all about you.
What will I do in therapy?
In therapy sessions, you may tell me about your struggles; you may identify resources and build skills; you may gain insights; and explore paths for your journey through life. You’ll get to vent, laugh, cry, and ultimately: be heard. You may experiences EMDR for short term or long term healing as well. We’ll keep coming back to your primary therapeutic goals as well so we know we’re moving forward.
What are your fees?
Therapy is an investment in your greatest commodity: yourself. A 50-minute individual session is $145. Self pay offers therapeutic freedom for you to decide your therapist, modalities used, and how long you continue therapy without requiring a diagnosis or needing to prove medical necessity.
Do you accept insurance?
Magenta Sky Therapy accepts self pay and the following insurances: Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Oscar, Oxford, & United. Insurance verification and billing is done through Headway. If your insurance is not listed, I can provide Superbills for possible reimbursement from your insurance provider. You may need to contact your insurance’s member benefits to find out about your out of network benefits or to find an in-network mental health provider.
What is the No Surprises Act?
Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers need to give patients who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. You will receive the No Surprises Act notice and the Good Faith Estimate document as part of your intake forms if you are self-pay.
What are your credentials?
I earned my Associates Degree in Science at the Mountain View campus of Dallas College. I earned my Bachelors degree in Sociology at University of Texas at Arlington. I then went on to earn my Masters degree in Counseling & Development with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health at Texas Woman’s University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor #84871 in the state of Texas. I am also a registered telehealth provider #1050 in the state of South Carolina.
Are you a crisis counselor?
I am a trauma therapist but not a crisis counselor; I can help you work through difficult moments, but I do not offer emergency services. We can sometimes schedule same day or next day appointments, but those spots are determined by availability and not guaranteed. You deserve the support you need at the level of care you require. For immediate crisis situations, you can call 911, visit your local ER, or text 988. For a higher level of care than what I can provide, we can discuss inpatient programs or intensive outpatient programs.
How do I get started?
Congratulations on feeling ready to start therapy! That’s a big decision especially if it’s your first time in counseling. Snaps for you. Your next step is to email me with any of your questions or concerns. If you feel like we’re already clicking, you can create your client profile, complete the intake forms, and schedule your first session.
